LONDRINA, Brazil

In 2004, co-founder Rosemeire Silveira along with a group of women raised funds for an impoverished slum community in the state of Parana, south of Brazil. They were able to raise funds for thirty food packages for families in extreme need. As a result of the response from community members, enthusiasm from volunteers, and the success of the project, both co-founders and volunteers continued to develop innovative ways to raise funds. The project extended to two slums in the city of Londrina, Brazil, and expanded to include 150 registered families, who received monthly food assistance, as well as counseling.
