LIVRAMENTO, Brazil

In 2006, UCF expanded to the Northeast region of Brazil, in the rural community of Livramento, Paraiba. In UCF’s first visit they distributed nine tons of food (approximately 650 food baskets, and registered 50 families who were recipients of monthly food assistance until 2009). In UCF’s second visit to Livramento in 2007, they built a house for a physically impaired elderly woman living in nhuman conditions.

Finally, as an initiative to merge from charity to a development and advocacy agency, UCF developed the “Vila Esperança” project. Vila Esperança intends to increase livelihoods through vocational programs, adequate housing, and health and mental care. In 2012, UCF delivered the first two out of the 26 houses being constructed in this project.
